OUTERWEAR STUDY

A-line wool pea coat
with round collar,
flap pockets at the hip,
and chest welt pockets

DESCRIPTION

The pea coat is a classic outerwear archetype that comes from WWII Navy uniforms. My take on this coat keeps the traditional material of thick navy blue wool as well as the two sets of pockets and vent in the back. 

However, I have changed the silhouette of the coat to be a more dramatic, oversized, a-line shape. This comes from research on 1950s and 60s childrenswear. Specifically, I looked into pea coats made for kids at this time. I replicated these childrens coats for an adult but keeping the military details of the Navy version.
